Hamilton Avenue is a street in the Riverbank Terrace neighborhood of Pinehurst, near the Burlington line. It runs east-southeast from Jim Shaw Road near the Shawsheen River, crossing Craine Street, Whitefield Avenue and Wamesit Avenue, and ends near Adelman Road.
It was laid out on the plan "Riverbank Terrace, Billerica, Mass., May 1911," drawn by C. A. Thayer, engineer, and recorded on August 17, 1911 (Plan Book 29, Plan 25). On that plan Hamilton Avenue runs one block south of River Road and Washington Avenue and parallel to them. It starts at the river end of the tract and runs east past Robin Road, Craine Street, Whitfield Avenue and Grant Street, between rows of house lots 25 feet wide. Wildwood Avenue, now Wildcrest Avenue, ran parallel one block further south. The plan does not explain the name, and no record found does.
Building on the street came slowly, as it did on the rest of Riverbank Terrace. The 1931 directory lists Whitfield Avenue as running "from Hamilton av." The town graded Hamilton Avenue in 1975, 1981 and 1982. No vote accepting it as a public way has been found.
